The Van der Linde gang was a criminal group. The first incarnation was the van der Linde gang, which Dutch van der Linde disbanded in 1906 and then refounded another, disbanded with his death in 1911.

The gang is inspired by the wild bunch of Butch Cassidy, one of the last criminal gangs that operated at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
As well as the unaffiliated criminals of Nuevo Paraíso, members of Dutch's new gang cannot be encountered in Red Dead Redemption outside of missions.
In Red Dead Redemption, they are the only gang that doesn't have a lair to clean up in singleplayer mode.
The gang does not appear in Undead Nightmare, where their lair is occupied by Melvin Spinney's men.
